Teeling Wonders of Wood Single Pot Still Chinkapin Oak Whiskey

A limited-edition whiskey with a mashbill of 50% malted barley / 50% unmalted barley, distilled in Dublin, and fully matured in Chinkapin American White Oak. Native to Eastern and Central North America, Chinkapin oak imparts a truly distinctive taste experience. The wood has a wider grain than other oak varieties, and imparts plenty of sweet spice and soft fruit notes to the whiskey.

Chinkapin oak is native to North America and produces a unique gingerbread spice and banana bread sweetness not traditionally found in Irish whiskey. At the World Whiskies Awards the Chinkapin Oak won 2022 World's Best Pot Still. This is the first edition as part of the new 'Wonders of Wood' series. As part of the series Teeling has partnered with the Tree Council of Ireland to support native tree planting. The Wonders of Wood series will help to plant exclusively native Irish tree species in Teeling's own designated acre of land in the Wicklow area of Ireland. Teeling's Tasting Notes:

Nose

Sweet toffee and butterscotch with caramel biscuits and wood tannins.

Taste

Banana bread and ginger spices dance on the palate with a velvety cream soda coating the mouth.

Finish

The wood spice lingers accompanied by dark chocolate and a hint of black pepper.
